E-mail Address
|
|
An email address (www@west.net) is made up of two parts, the username and the host name. They are separated by an @, and when you tell someone your email address you say, "www at west.net". Your username must be unique on your server, and the host name is a name unique on the Internet chosen by the server. The host name might have several parts separated by periods (user@cougarnet.byu.edu). These other sections are called subdomains, and are common on large company or university servers.
